What Is It?

The Online Workshop is a 2-day, live, online training event aimed to encourage and equip you in the skills needed to read, understand, and proclaim the Word of God.

The Online Workshop is a 2-day, live, online training event aimed to encourage and equip you in the skills needed to read, understand, and proclaim the Word of God. The Workshop includes times set aside for 1) Principles of Exposition (instructional sessions on how to better handle biblical texts), 2) Small Group Practice (when you will share and receive feedback on one passage of scripture you prepare in advance), and 3) Expositions (the opportunity to sit under the Word). Each of these sessions is carefully designed to be interrelated for the greatest value in improving your work. In other words, this is a Workshop and not a conference. If you cannot be at all the sessions, then it really isn’t for you.

It is important to note: Partial participation is not permitted. Our pedagogical commitments in the small group sessions as well as the cumulative relationship between the small group and plenary sessions, full participation is required.

Who Should Attend?

The Online Women’s Workshops are generally for women who are currently in a teaching ministry with the responsibility to teach the Bible regularly.

The Online Women’s Workshops are generally for women who are currently in a teaching ministry with the responsibility to teach the Bible regularly. It is open to women who lead in regular teaching ministries including large group instructors, small group teachers, and women’s and children’s ministry leaders appointed by their churches.

How Should I Prepare?

During the small groups, you will have an opportunity to get feedback on work you’ve prepared in advance.

Director of Women's Workshops, Charles Simeon Trust

Colleen joined the Charles Simeon Trust in 2007 and serves as the Director of Women’s Workshops, where she is responsible for all activities related to the Workshops for women Bible teachers. Prior to working with the Trust, she was in the corporate world for several years in sales and marketing. Colleen earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a MDiv from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Colleen and her husband live in the Philadelphia area, where he teaches New Testament at Cairn University. She is on staff at their church, Trinity Community Church, serving as the Director of Women’s Ministries. She also serves on the board of Matthias Media Ministries.

Byrd Abi Byrd Bible Teacher

Bible Teacher

Abi is a Bible teacher who speaks for evangelistic events and retreats at other churches. Her family is part of McLean Bible Church, Loudoun Campus. Abi has a BEd Honors degree in music and education from Cambridge University. She has been a teacher in elementary school and served with the children’s ministry on staff at Capitol Hill Baptist Church. She and her family have also served as missionaries in the UK and Kosovo with Radstock Ministries, of which she is part of the Board.

Bible Teacher

Ka is passionate about discipling women and teaching them how to study God’s word. She is currently pursuing an Associate of Divinity from The College at Southeastern. She and her family previously helped to plant Anacostia River Church in Washington, D.C. Ka is happily married to Jahill who serves as the lead pastor of Springs of Grace Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana, and loves being the mother of their five amazing children.

Lisa Helm

Lisa is a life-long Chicagoan, having lived over 20 years in the Hyde Park neighborhood where her husband is a pastor. They are blessed to be part of a vibrant church family. Currently she serves alongside others teaching and training women at Holy Trinity Church and working in the Kid City ministry. She holds a BA from Wheaton College. Lisa also enjoys her job planning sales events for a financial services firm, but some of her favorite times are spent with their five adult children, spouses, and grandchildren, especially around the dinner table.

Each day has several breaks, including 45 minutes for lunch.
Text assignments will come from Philippians. 

Participation

This Online Workshop is designed to be interactive, and full participation is required. Each participant will need video access to Zoom video conferencing and a reliable internet connection.

Cost

$39 USD before October 15.
