What Is It?
The Workshop on Biblical Exposition is a three-day training event aimed to encourage and equip you in the skills needed to read, understand, and proclaim the Word of God.
Who Should Attend?
The Workshops on Biblical Exposition are for men who are responsible for regularly preaching and teaching. We also welcome those in bi-vocational ministries as well as those training for ministry. Women Bible teachers can check out our Women’s Workshops.
How Should I Prepare?
During the small groups, you will have an opportunity to get feedback on work you’ve prepared in advance.
Ben Panner
Director of Workshops
Ben Panner became the Director of Workshops in 2024. Before joining the Trust, he spent 12 years serving as a pastor at College Church in Wheaton, IL (2012-2024). After earning a Bachelor’s in Business and Economics and a Master’s in Christian Formation and Ministry from Wheaton College, he continued his theological training by completing an MDiv through Reformed Theological Seminary. In 2024, he was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America. He has been a Workshop Instructor for the Simeon Trust since 2018. As the Director of Workshops, Ben will continue to instruct, train instructors, and work with a great team to coordinate workshops around the globe.
Kevin McKay
Lead Pastor, Grace Harbor Church
Kevin is the Lead Pastor of Grace Harbor Church in Providence, Rhode Island. He received a degree in Communications from Carson-Newman College, having attended at a distance while working on staff at a church in Knoxville, Tennessee, as a student minister. In 2006, Kevin and his family moved to Washington D.C., where Kevin was a part of the internship program and then the staff of Capitol Hill Baptist Church. Kevin was sent out by Capitol Hill Baptist Church in August 2008 to Providence to become the pastor of Grace Harbor Church. He completed his formal theological training at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.
Michael Lawrence
Lead Pastor, Hinson Baptist Church
Michael became Lead Pastor at Hinson Baptist Church in Portland, Oregon in September, 2010. Michael came to faith at an early age, but never understood that the Christian life was more than salvation until he was introduced to the InterVarsity campus ministry at Duke. Michael earned an MDiv at Gordon-Conwell and a PhD from Cambridge University in 2002. He served as Associate Pastor for more than 8 years at Capitol Hill Baptist in Washington D.C. He is the author of Biblical Theology in the Life of the Church: A Guide for Ministry, co-author of It Is Well: Expositions on Substitutionary Atonement (with Mark Dever), and contributed to Perspectives on Christian Worship: Five Views.
