How do preachers grow? Through instruction, practice, and feedback.

As a developing preacher working toward ordination at his church, Trinity Church in Kailua, Hawaii, John Masis was looking to grow. He was enrolled in seminary and wanted more preaching training. So he jumped at the opportunity to take a Charles Simeon Trust Online Course for seminary credit through our partnership with the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. This meant that in addition to the usual Online Course materials, John had access to one-on-one coaching sessions to receive feedback and ask questions. Throughout the course he selected—Old Testament History—John improved at preaching the main point of the passage with clarity. “The course taught me how to preach the flow of narrative while faithfully connecting the Old Testament to the glories of Christ.
