Reshaped Preaching

Jeremy Meeks

A Short Word, June 2026
“Before coming to the Chicago Course, I didn’t really know how to read the Bible,” said Thomas Savage Jr. “More importantly, I didn’t know that I didn’t know how to read it.” Even though he taught the Bible weekly as a youth pastor, Thomas arrived at the Chicago Course on Preaching and realized he had lots to learn. “I didn’t see the connection between what the text is saying and what I should say. I had a lot that needed to be stripped away and reshaped.”

The Chicago Course left Thomas with a newfound interest in the intersection between persuasion, exegesis, and homiletics. Thomas is heading to Princeton Seminary to do advanced studies for the sake of his own preaching ministry and to prepare to train others in the future. None of that work would be fruitful if he did not understand how to read the Bible well. Thomas says, “Now that such work has been done, I feel confident and prepared for future ministry.”

Please pray for Thomas—and all the recent graduates of the Chicago Course—as they move into future ministry as reshaped preachers.

In Christ,
